Kopenhagen Fur’s former headquarters sold to large educational institution

NEXT Education Copenhagen has acquired Kopenhagen Fur's former headquarters in Glostrup. EDC Erhverv Poul Erik Bech brokered the sale of the 94,000 m² on behalf of the state-owned company Finansiel Stabilitet. The case has attracted a lot of attention and more than 20 different consortia showed interest in the attractive property, where mink fur will be used for education in the future.

A piece of Danish history closed after 78 years when Kopenhagen Fur made its last hammer blow on its fur shares in the summer of 2024. Now the former headquarters has been sold and a number of vocational and further education programmes will be located at the address.

Kim Saastamoinen-Jakobsen, Deputy Director of NEXT Education Copenhagen, welcomes the purchase of Kopenhagen Fur’s former headquarters. He emphasises that the property is an important investment for NEXT: “The property in Glostrup gives us the opportunity to gather a number of our vocational programmes, continuing education and school training in a large campus community and create an even better environment for students, course participants, employees and partners. We appreciate the good collaboration with both Finansiel Stabilitet and EDC Erhverv Poul Erik Bech in the process.”

An investment in the skilled labour of the future
Finansiel Stabilitet took over the building after Kopenhagen Fur, and the property has now been sold after an open and transparent sales process. Jens Verner Andersen, CEO of Finansiel Stabilitet, says:

“We are very pleased to be able to sell Kopenhagen Fur’s former head office to NEXT after approx. ¾ years on the market. The sale marks an important milestone, and after a short period of ownership, we can now sell the property to a new long-term owner. Going forward, our focus will continue to be on the best possible liquidation of the next assets, which hopefully can soon be taken over from the mink herding business.”

Large and comprehensive case
EDC Erhverv Poul Erik Bech brokered the sale of the 93,919 m² commercial property. Head of Corporate Group Clients, Thor Heltborg, says: “It has been super exciting to sell Kopenhagen Fur’s former headquarters on behalf of Finansiel Stabilitet. These are beautiful and attractive buildings with an excellent location close to Copenhagen, spacious facilities and flexible administration areas.”

“This has been one of the largest and most comprehensive cases we have worked on, with many viewings and more than 20 different consortia showing interest and inspecting the property once or several times. It has been a really good process, and we have been in close dialogue with Finansiel Stabilitet on an ongoing basis, as there was a lot of attention on the case. Together with them, we have spent many hours on this exciting case.”

In March 2024, EDC Erhverv Poul Erik Bech won a large tender for real estate brokerage services for the handling of assets acquired from mink herding businesses for Finansiel Stabilitet. So far, in addition to Kopenhagen Fur’s headquarters in Glostrup, the nationwide business broker has also sold Kopenhagen Fur’s former test property outside Holstebro. In the near future, even more properties will be sold on behalf of Finansiel Stabilitet.

NEXT Capital’s Craft Campus
2,000 students and course participants have their daily routine at NEXT Hovedstaden’s Craft Campus at Langagervej 60-72 in Glostrup. Here, more than 20 different vocational programmes are gathered under one roof with both young people and adults. The first programmes are expected to move in from August 2026. Increased capacity will not only provide a better educational environment for students, there will also be room for large trade fairs, professional festivals and other events. At the same time, the campus will open up to businesses and local communities through even closer collaboration.
